North Tipperary travelled to UL to take on Limerick District in the final group stages of the Munster interleague.  Limerick needed the win to secure top spot in the group.

The opening exchanges were evenly matched.  Limerick enjoyed possession but found a North Tipp team well organised and dangerous on the break.  When Limerick did find a way through on goal they met a fine shot stopper in North Tipperary’s Keith Hogan.  North Tipperary were dangerous on the break out with the industrious Sean Keith Cross lightening in transition and Jacob Slaga a handful for the Limerick rear-guard.  North Tipperary’s Luke Dillon had 2 good attempts on the Limerick goal but the Limerick number one dealt with both.  After 19 minutes Limerick got the breakthrough.  A NTSFL attack up the right flank broke down and in a lightening counter attack Limerick finished clinically.  A 2^nd goal arrived shortly afterwards when a beautiful cross field pass found the NTSFL defence too high and again the Limerick finish was clinical.  A rampant District side now went full throttle and added 2 more goals before half time to seal the tie. 

The 2^nd half saw North Tipperary reorganise and blood the extended panel against a very strong District team.  New keeper Niall Redmond did well on debut.  William Murphy excelled in a new defensive roll. Cathal Dervane covered every blade of astro turf for the cause.  After some resolute defending, with Luke Dillon in particular putting in  a big shift for the Tipp lads, an unfortunate own goal gave Limerick a 5^th and before full time they completed the rout with a sixth goal.

While the Tipp lads were disappointed with the result, they are not the first nor will they be the last team to be schooled in UL by a fine Limerick District side who will take stopping in the Cup competition.  North Tipp will regroup and prepare for a Plate run.  Every day is a school day.
